This month our playlist is full of calls to worship for stubborn hearts. 

Here’s why: Too often we expect our souls to naturally drift toward worship and praise. We expect it to be totally unplanned and unforced. We wonder why it doesn’t feel easy. 

But in the Scriptures we regularly see the people of God calling their own souls to worship. For example in Lamentations 3 after being honest about the pain of his life, the prophet calls his own soul to worship: 

Lamentations 3:21–22
“But this I call to mind,
and therefore I have hope:
The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end” 

Or again in Psalm 42:5: 

“Why are you cast down, O my soul,
and why are you in turmoil within me?
Hope in God; for I shall again praise him,
my salvation” 

So this month we have a collection of calls to worship for stubborn hearts. If you’re naturally ready to praise, put on this playlist and sing. But if you don’t feel like praising, put on this playlist, call your soul to sing, and sing anyway.
