We’re starting a new podcast to equip Christians for a fight they may not even realize they are in. 

Concept

Every day we’re in the middle of a clash. On one side is the world, the flesh, and the devil exerting pressure on us, seeking to “conform” us to their mold. On the other side is the cause of Christ and our Statement of Faith, seeking to help us be “transformed” to look like Christ. The charge in Romans 12:2 says, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” 

So Ben and I want to help equip our church members for the clash. Our hope is to encourage one another to hold fast to our confession of faith in the midst of a changing world. 

What To Expect

Each week we’ll tackle a new topic and examine the clash between the world around us and our Statement of Faith. Expect topics like: 

• Self-Esteem // What does the Bible really say about how we view ourselves? 
• Revenge and Justice // Why does our culture cry out for “justice” but have a hard time with the justice of God? 
• Manhood and Womanhood // What does it mean to be unapologetically a man or a woman in God’s image? 

But our first episode is setting the state. We talk about the clash from the perspective of Revelation and lay out three great threats to Christians in that book: 

• The World — the system of culture opposed to God 
• The Flesh — our own desires and temptations 
• The Devil — our adversary 

Your Hosts

Ben and I have both been pastors for a number of years and have seen Christians be caught unaware too often in the midst of this clash. Here’s who we are: 

• Ben Kreps is the Lead Pastor of Living Hope Church in Middletown, PA. Once a rebel who wanted nothing to do with God, he has a passion to see the lost reached and the gospel advance. He’s also been the hope of the Mark Prater podcast for the last few years. 
• Ricky Alcantar is the Lead Pastor of Cross of Grace Church in El Paso, TX. Once a self-described self-righteous church kid, he has a heart to see Christians equipped with grace and truth. His church has had a radio broadcast ministry for several years in its area and he’s the author of several books. Ricky is also the Editorial Director for Digital in Sovereign Grace Churches. 

Our History 

If you’ve been part of Sovereign Grace Churches for a number of years the name “The Clash Vs” may be familiar to you. Years ago it was a worldview camp for high schoolers and entering college students led by Jeff Purswell. Ben was actually a counselor at the same camp. So we’re seeking to carry on the spirit of those worldview weeks through our podcast. (This time you’ll have to provide your own marshmallows and campfire though.)
